The Maze Runner meets Scott Westerfeld in this gripping new series about teens held captive in a human zoo by an otherworldly race. When Cora Mason wakes in a desert, she doesn't know where she is or who put her there. As she explores, she finds an impossible mix of environments—tundra next to desert, farm next to jungle, and a strangely empty town cobbled together from different cultures—all watched over by eerie black windows. And she isn't alone.Four other teenagers have also been taken: a beautiful model, a tattooed smuggler, a secretive genius, and an army brat who seems to know too much about Cora's past. None of them have a clue as to what happened, and all of them have secrets. As the unlikely group struggles for leadership, they slowly start to trust each other. But when their mysterious jailer—a handsome young guard called Cassian—appears, they realize that their captivity is more terrifying than they could ever imagine: Their captors aren't from Earth. And they have taken the five teenagers for an otherworldly zoo—where the exhibits are humans.

An addictive alien book. A mystery sci-fi with a twist. 4 stars! The Breakfast club in space. Cora is the 'Princess'- a rich girl from Virginia. Daughter of a senator. She just spent 18 months locked up in Juvie. She didn't do it. Lucky is the 'Athlete'- a boy from Virginia about to graduate in 2 month heading to join the military. Trying to forget the past and start fresh. All he wants is a beach, a girl and a guitar. Leon is the 'Criminal'-a New Zealander. Works with his brothers in the black market smuggling illegal stuff. He won't amount to much. He has given up his future. Rolf is the 'Brain'-younger then the rest of the bunch. He's in college at 15. A brainiac with a destiny in M.I.T. But he also gets picked on by bullies for being the kid...the geek. Nok is the 'Basketcase'- she just wants acceptance. She is always ignored. Her parents sold her into slavery. Modeling for a "pimpess". These five teens are abducted from Earth and placed into an artificial world. A simulated reality of habitats. All to mimic their old lives. A test to see how they will respond and react to captivity. Like animals. Push them too far and they will rebel. Push them just right and they may learn to like their cage. Cora will not except this "beautiful" jail. She will break free!! I had some issues with this book, but only a few. Drawn out scenes. Some characters were to placid right away. Maybe that is what happens in captivity I don't know. Only having 21 days to follow all three rules. The days didn't even seem to be 24 hours. Rule 3 and what happens when rule three is accomplished seemed way too quick. It isn't possible unless the aliens were very precise on the date lol. I can't wait to read the sequel I was not expecting the ending at all.

YouTube: Lionel Richie

I was going to go for 'Love Is A Battlefield' for this book, but at the last minute I switched to "Hello" by Lionel Richie because the letters Sean gets in his mailbox is a main thread through out the book. A girl that Sean doesn't know is in love with him and when he doesn't notice her she kills herself.
